This book is easily the definitive account of Newport ’65 — Elijah Wald explores in depth the various forces that caused that night to go down the way it did.
It's a great book .. as is CP Lee's book that you mention.
Mike Bloomfield was the perfect choice for Bob in 1965. You can see his mischievous nature in many photos of the event. He loved mixing up the medicine in every sense.
Highway 61 Revisited was essentially controlled chaos in the studio. It teeters on the edge of the abyss in many of the takes issued on TCE Collectors Edition.... but the released version of the album captured lightning in a bottle ... it broke the mould of popular music for everyone ...and it was never the same again.
Thank you for refreshing my memory of this book.
