What I thought about Albert Grossman
There is a humongous difference between Albert B. Grossman and a Col. Tom Parker. Humongous. One was basically a carnival barker, and the other a genius.
I had a manager Albert Grossman and someone asked him: "He's writing all these songs. What else does he write?" He probably answered "What do you need?" "Does he write books?" And he answers "Of course he does". "We would like to publish one of them". I think it happened something like that. My manager arranged everything, and it was up to me to write the book. It wasn't something I planned to do. But he did those kinds of things from time to time. He sent me to a tv-show where I was supposed to be an actor. I had no idea. I thought I was supposed to sing. Albert Grossman came from Chicago where he managed two clubs, the Gate of Horn and later, The Bear. He signed Dylan quite early, long before most people knew it. At one time he was THE manager, especially in the folk scene, though a lot of people disliked and distrusted him.
