When The Band’s debut album, Music From Big Pink, was released in 1968, its impact particularly on other musicians, was huge. Musicians on both sides of the Atlantic including The Beatles, The Rolling Stones, Eric Clapton, The Grateful Dead and many others stopped what they were doing and went back to a more roots-oriented sound.
