About the archive

My name is Trev Gibb. Peter Stone Brown was a dear friend of mine for 20 years. He left me his music and writing archive with the hope I’d make it all available and I promised him that I would keep his work alive and maintain an archive for him, so here and on other platforms I aim to make everything I can available. At times I duck out and at times I come back to add more. It’s a labor of love more than anything else.

Peter was a born writer, he always intended to write THE Bob Dylan music book, but it never happened in his lifetime. He was also a very gifted songwriter, although pigeonholed in the Dylan corner of songwriters he was to me just as unique as a John Prine or a Guy Clarke. His first album recorded in Ray Benson’s studio is a great piece of Americana but there were even more and better songs that never made it that far. I’ve tried to make some of his dreams come true in the following ways, even though he’s not here to see it.

So far I have:

• published ‘Joker And The Thief’ (Red Planet Books) in hardback - proceeds donated to Penn Medicine Cancer

• released numerous albums of material to Spotify, Bandcamp, Apple, Amazon, YouTube and all the usual digital platforms

• made and continue to make available his written work of which there is more than just his Bob Dylan content

I make no income from either the book funds (I plan to release a further edition by 2024) or his music and it was never my intention to do so, however I did decide recently that here I would monetise some of my time dedicated to curating his work. The vast majority of content here is free forever, with some rarer pieces made available specifically for those who were kind enough to start donating without being asked, and I appreciate their support hugely.
